Exhibition

Lee Boon Wang 李文苑 (1934–2016) was one of Singapore's leading second-generation realist painters and a co-founder of the Equator Art Society. A graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, he devoted his life to artistic practice and art education. Lee Boon Wang has a passion for sailing, and his years of voyaging through the seas of Southeast Asia have brought him a streams of inspiration for his artistic creations. He became renowned for his evocative paintings of seascapes, coastal life and the distinctive landscapes of Southeast Asia.
Recipient of the Singapore Creative Art Award (1980) and the Singapore Distinction Art Award (1982), Lee also represented Singapore in Moscow in 1978 and became the first Singaporean artist commissioned to paint the Brunei Royal Family.
This exhibition features over thirty representative works, encompassing oil paintings, watercolors and sketches, highlighting the achievements and enduring influence of this distinguished Nanyang realist painter.
