TENG NEE CHEONG 邓尔昌 (b.1951-2013)

Teng Nee Cheong Born in 1951, Teng is a well established Singapore Artist who is known for his richly coloured and expressive artworks. Teng graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1968 and received many awards throughout his career, such as the NAFA Alumni Association Creative Award (1982), the Tan Tsze Chor Award by Singapore Art Society, and the Philip Morris Group ASEAN Art Award (1933, 1995, 1996).
Teng’s works features drawings and paintings of human figures through the use of charcoal, oil, watercolour, and pastel. During the earlier stages of his career, Teng mainly produced works of decorative semi-abstract paintings of frangipani treetops. His style incorporates elements of Chinese and Southeast Asian art techniques. He also draws inspiration from different cultures, traditions, and religions. For example, Balinese Mythology, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
Teng has held several exhibitions throughout his career, such as Art in Action (1980), Crescent Over the Equator(1992), and Those The Gods Love Grow Mightier (2010). His oeuvres have also been exhibited in The Netherlands, Indonesia, Paris, and the United States.
